About the event

The most important part of the Cropwell Bike Ride is to enjoy yourself and have fun. The seven mile circuit is not over testing, but does give you a variety of elements. The team spirit is always going to be high and lots of fun had between riders, marshals and organisers.

The object of the marathon is for one bicycle/rider per team to continue on the circuit for the designated hours in a team relay with each team rider doing one or two laps and then changing riders.

A lap score is kept for each team, though this is not a race event. The best part of the event for some will be getting up to see the dawn break, hear the birds singing and preparing for the final stage of the relay with your team. For some it will be having a BBQ on Saturday evening after a very energetic day.

Toilets, showers and rest areas will be available over the 24hrs. Refreshments will be available during the cycling hours. Teams are welcome to bring their own sleeping facilities e.g. caravans, tents, sleeping bags etc. The Memorial Hall can also be used to sleep in but remember people will be in and out throughout the night.

The Start

The start will be at Cropwell Bishop Memorial Hall. The first riders from each team will set off at 12 noon on the Saturday.

These first riders will take between 16 and 30 minutes to complete the seven-mile circuit, depending upon conditions and ability. Team leaders are requested to prepare their riders at the required intervals so that continuity is not broken.

The Finish

A brief Prize Giving will follow the finish at 12 noon on the Sunday. A raffle draw will also take place then.
